SHILLONG: If the current political situation in Meghalaya were Aesop’s Fables, then the Congress could have been well described as the fox that refused to admit defeat, at least in the words of UDP senior leader Bindo Lanong.
Lanong compared the rival party to the ‘fox’ who, after failing to eat the grapes in a vine, called the fruits sour.
“We had rejected the approach of the Congress and it is like a fox that was trying to have the grapes and when it did not get (the grapes), it is saying they were sour,” he said on Monday, a day after the Congress made it clear that they were not in a hurry to disturb the MDA honeymoon.
In the lines of the Congress’s analogy, Lanong said the honeymoon period of the MDA government “is over and now they are in live-in partnership and they are concentrating on the development of the state, which was left in a mess”.
“Let the Congress dream about grapes,” he added.
