Illegal liquor
The Excise staff of East Khasi Hills District, Shillong conducted raids in restaurants and stalls in the town and its outskirts where during the month of July, the Excise department detected 25 cases with a seizure of 1168.075 litres of i/d liquor and 5.040 litres IMFL. In this connection, 18 persons were arrested under Excise Act.

Workers’ meet
A meeting of the coordination committee of Central Government employees and workers will be held at Income Tax Employees Federation office in the city at 4 pm on Tuesday, to chalk out the programme of All India Demand Day to be held on September 19 called by the Confederation of Central Government employees & workers. The protest is also for the fulfillment of other demands.

Alumni meet
The Committee of the Khliehriat Higher Secondary School Past Pupils will organise its first Alumni Meet of the 1995-2015 batch on October 18. The aim of the programme is to honor the retired and the soon-to-be retired tea-chers. The Committee has urged all the past pupils (1995-2015) to the general meeting to be held on the school premises at 12 pm on September 15

Cultural event
The Rabindranath Tagore Club in collaboration with Laban Bengalee Boys’ LP School celebrated the birth anniversary of Tagore as well as prize distribution ceremony of 11th Inter-Shillong Cultural Event at U Soso Tham Auditorium. The chief guest was president of Central Puja Committee, Naba Bhattarcharjee and president of Geetali club, Santosh Kr. Das.
