SHILLONG: With reports of high incidence of Malaria in raid Marmain, located in the Meghalaya-Assam border, local MLA Mayralborm Syiem stressed on opening up the PHC in Marmain.
“The civil construction is complete but the government has not been able to sanction different posts to the PHC. The Minister will take up the matter by taking it to the Finance Department to sanction posts, both technical and non-technical, for the PHC to start functioning,” he told reporters after meeting Health Minister AL Hek on Wednesday.
With construction work completed in 2017 which include the civil work, main building, doctors and nurses quarter, the only task remaining is the sanctioning of posts.
Located on Meghalaya-Assam border, he said, Raid Marmain experienced high incidence of malaria and there is a need for better health facilities.
“We hope that this time the PHC will start functioning after sanctioning of posts. We hope it will become operational by the end of this year or the beginning of next year will start functioning,” Syiem said.
PHC will serve people in the border areas with over thousand populations.
