NONGPOH: The emergency meeting of the People Democratic Front, Youth Front Umsning Zonal Committee on Monday expelled its president, Watson Kharkrang for his alleged anti-party activities.
Talking to media persons at Mawlein Mawkhan on Tuesday, General Secretary of PDF, Youth Front, Umsning Zonal Committee, Wanker Nongrum said that the meeting had unanimously decided to expel Kharkrang from the president’s post following his anti-party activities in which he alleged that the local MLA, Jason Mawlong had projected his own sister for the upcoming MDC elections slated to be held next year as appeared in a section of newspapers.
Nongrum also said that, the allegations are baseless and have no truth to it, as the party had never projected anyone nor discussed this issue in the meeting in the past. He added that the allegations was to tarnish the image of the local MLA for his own benefit.
On the allegations that the PDF Umsning is divided into two factions, Nongrum clarified that the party is still united and intact and that there is no such factions as claim by the expelled leader.
Meanwhile, Nongrum also informed that for the time being, the present working president of the Youth Front, Umsning Zonal Committee, Marius Nongrum will take charge as the president and that the committee will soon hold a meeting to elect the new president of the party in the next few days.
