GUWAHATI: A team of Assam police has been sent to Uttar Pradesh to get details about Kamar-uz-Zaman, the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen ultra who was arrested by the Anti Terror Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh police on Thursday from Kanpur.
The Assam Police team led by a Deputy Superintendent of the Special Branch of Assam Police is likely to conduct search at the rented house of Kamar-uz-Zaman who hails from Jamunamukh in Nagaon district of Assam.
Assam Police on Friday arrested one Shah Nawaz Alam from Jamnamukh area in Nagaon district on Friday for his alleged link with banned Hizb-ul-Mujahideen. He was remanded to six days’ police custody on production in the local court. Alam is accused of being an accomplice of Kamar-uz-Zaman who was arrested by UP Police.
Meanwhile, a team of ATS of the UP police arrived in Assam on Saturday to carry out search at Jamunamukh residence of Kamar-uz-Zaman. The UP police team is likely to conduct search at the residence of Shah Nawaz Alam, the alleged aide of Kamar-uz.
