Protest
The Central Government Employees of Meghalaya under the banner of C-O-C, Meghalaya will hold lunch hour protest demonstration on September 19 on the Shillong GPO premises to raise the demands of enhancement of minimum pay & fitment formula and scrapping of Contributory Pension Scheme. In the same venue, C-O-C will celebrate commemoration of the 50th anniversary of 1968 One-Day Strike. All the employees are requested to join the programme.

Meeting postponed
The Meghalaya Upper Primary School Teachers Association Jirang Block Unit, Ri Bhoi District postponed its general meeting at Umkynsir Presbyterian U.P School, Umkynsir, Patharkhmah schedule to be held on September 15 to further notice.

Counselling service
The West Jaintia Hills District Child Protection Officer has informed that the child protection office, Jowai, will open every Monday from 10 am to 5 pm for adoption counseling. Counseling facilities for prospective adoptive parents’, older children and other adoption related issues.

Crime portal
The Ministry of Home Affairs launched an online reporting portal: www.-cybercrime.gov.in on June 30 accepting complaints of Child Pornography and Rape/Gang Rape (CP/RGR) contents being circulated through internet. The Cyber Assistance Cell of Cyber Crime Wing, CID is the State Nodal Cyber Cell for complaints CP/RGR contents, and general public can upload their complaints on the above given website. The helpline numbers are: 0364-2504001, mobile: 94025-19391, email: [email protected].

Pension Adalat
The Finance Department in collaboration with the Accountant General will hold a nationwide pension adalat at the Conference Hall, Main Secretariat Building in the city from 11 am on September 19.

Anniversary
To commemorate the occasion of the 125th anni-versary of Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago Address at the World Parliament of Religions, the Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong will organise a cultural programme at Rama-krishna Mission Vivek-ananda Cultural Centre, Quinton Road from 10 am onwards on Saturday. MP Vincent Pala, will attend the programme as chief guest in presence of Swami Sarvabhutananda, secretary, RKM.

Book released
A book titled, Handbook on Manufacture of Indian Kitchen Spices (Masala powder) with Formulations, Processes and Machinery Details was released by Niir Project Consultancy Services. In a statement issued here, the Consultancy Services said the book provides comprehensive information on spice and spice mixes business.
