SHILLONG: Naming roads after prominent personalities of the state is a great idea and founder of the Khasi Unitarianism Babu Hajom Kissor also features in the list, Home Minister James Sangma said on Saturday.
Sangma made the statement after the principal of St Edmund’s College, Sylvanus Lamare drew the attention of the minister on naming of roads after Kissor at the inauguration function of the anniversary of the Unitarian Church in the Khasi-Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya and Karbi-Anglong of Assam in an interfaith meeting at Unitarian Church Nongthymmai.
“We are contemplating to name roads in our state. We have so many names we are proud of and Babu Hajom Kissor is one of them’, Sangma said.
“The government will be privileged to give him the recognition, although he doesn’t need it, but as a small gesture from the government,” he added.
He said roads in Laban and another road in Jowai where the Unitarian Church stands should be named after Kissor.
