Alert RPF rescues 17 children in a week

GUWAHATI: Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway successfully rescued as many as 17 children from railway premises like stations/trains during the week from 17th to 23rd September, the NFR headquarter here informed.

In one of such case on September 18 at about 10.45 am, RPF train escort party of Down N.E Express, while escorting the train from Kamakhya to rescued one minor girl and arrested   one kidnapper namely, Majibar Rahman (28), s/o late Biren Sheikh of vill-Patarkuchi, Durga Mandir, under Beltola (Chariali) police station  in  Kamrup  district of Assam. The arrested person is involved in Basistha Police Station case No. 1196/18 u/s 366(A) IPC. Later on, the apprehended people along with the rescued minor girl were handed over to in-charge of Jorabat outpost for necessary action.

On September 20, at about 4.30 pm, RPF Inspector, R. K. Yadav along with staff of Ledo Outpost in Upper Assam, arrested one person, Hemanta Sarmah (47), son of  Gangaram Sharma of Lekhapani, Tinsukia district , Assam and rescued of three girls, all from Tinsukia, Assam. The arrested person confessed that he was taking the girls to Delhi on the promise of giving them job. Later on, the arrested person along with the rescued girls was handed over to Ledo Police station of Assam Police. In this regard, a case vides No. 111/18 U/S 370 IPC dated 21.09.2018 was registered in Lekhapani police outpost.

On September 22,  at about 9-15 pm, on duty RPF staff namely, Constable Chunu Hansda of RPF Post, Siliguri Junction rescued three runaway minor girls all from Alipurduar, West Bengal, from Plat Form No. 01. Subsequently, the rescued minor girls were handed over to Centre Coordinator, Child Line/Hakimpara, and Siliguri for safe custody.
