NEHU event
NEHU will organise a programme to commemorate the ‘Surgical Strike Day’ at the Multi-Use Convention Centre, permanent campus at 2 pm on Saturday. Brigadier William J.B. Sturgeon, YSM, SM (retd), Director Sainik Welfare & Secretary Rajya Sainik Board Meghalaya, Shillong will be the chief guest on the occasion. There will be a felicitation of the parents of (L) Clifford W. Nongrum as well as interaction with the students.

Sports testing  
The District Sports Officer in Tura has informed that the Meghalaya Sports Testing and Talent Identification programme will be held at the Dikki Bandi Stadium in Tura on Friday. Interested participated, athletes or players from the age group of 6 to 18 years (both boys and girls) have been asked to report themselves at the said venue from 8:30 am.

Dancers’ charity
The All Meghalaya Dancer’s Association will organise the The Salam India Charity Programme Season 2 at U Soso Tham Auditorium from 2 pm to 6 pm on October 6.

Dry day
The DC (Excise), East Khasi Hills District has declared October 2 as dry day in the district on account of Gandhi Jayanti. All bonded warehouse/IMFL shops/bars/hotels/clubs and outstill shops shall remain closed on this day.

Movie screening
The films Toilet: Ek Pem Katha starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar and Pad Man starring Akshay Kumar and Radhika Apte will be screened at NEIGRIHMS auditorium from 2 pm onwards on Saturday as part of Swachhata Hi Sewa Campaign. Entry is free.
