Six injured in road mishaps

SHILLONG: Six persons were injured in a series of road mishaps reported from across the state.
Cresil Marak (17) and Silbera Marak (30) met with an accident around 6 pm at Balongre in West Garo Hills, when the auto-rickshaw they were travelling in turned turtle. Both victims ustainined injuries and were shifted to Tura Civil Hospital by 108 Assanang Base Ambulance.
In another incident,Wanbor Nongbri (23) and Teibor Kharshyieng (29) were injured when a Sumo hit their two-wheeler in Mawlai Mawiong around 7:33 pm. The victims were shifted to Civil Hospital Shillong by 108 Lawmali Base Ambulance.
On the other hand, a man identified as Bashanlang Syiem (26) suffered minor injuries when his over-speeding scooty went on and hit a Road Roller at Mylliembah around 11:12 pm. He was later shifted to Civil Hospital Shillong.
Vivek Kumar (16) met with an accident at 3rd Mile near petrol pump around 6:32 am when his scooty skidded off the road. He sustained minor injuries and was shifted to Civil Hospital Shillong.
Although the state has taken several measures ensuring the safety of the public, somehow the number of accident cases are still on the rise.
There were appeals to the public from government departments for avoiding rash driving, driving under the influence of alcohol as such.
