NONGPOH: Ri Bhoi SP Spill Thamar issued a warning on Monday against those extorting truck drivers.
The SP’s order comes following complaints from several truck drivers against the alleged illegal collection of money by some groups claiming to be members of NGOs.
“Any concerned members of a society or an NGO are most welcome to help the police if they have any knowledge of illegal trucks plying on the road but they should refrain from taking the law in their hands,” said Thamar adding that he had also received information that these unknown groups were also collecting money from truck drivers on NH-6.
The districtSP warned of stern action against such groups.
