Mawkyrwat: The KSU Nongkynbah area unit on Wednesday demanded from the Health Department, Govt of Meghalaya to immediately inaugurate the Nongkynbah Health Sub-Centre at Nongkynbah village in South West Khasi Hills district. President of KSU Nongkynbah area unit, Gomelson Snaitang said that the health engineering wing has completed the construction of the Sub-Centre since 2014, but even after four years it is not functional.
He added that the villages which are expected to be covered under the Sub-Centre include Sarin, Nongpdengkynbah and Nongkynbah. The villagers are facing a lot of problem as they have to walk three to four hours to reach Mawpud Sub-Centre. The union also demanded from the government that since it excluded these villages from Ranikor Civil Sub-Division, they should also be excluded from Ranikor CHC and be included under Rangthong PHC which is only about 15 kms away.
It further stated that they will meet the Health Sevices Director and requested Ranikor MLA Pius Marwein to look into the matter so that the problems of these villages can be solved.
