SHILLONG: Government chief whip Marcuise N. Marak and Williamnagar MLA conducted an inspection at the Rural Eco Tourism Circuit in Garo Hills project on October 4 and 5.
It may be mentioned that the Ministry of DoNER had sanctioned Rs 3.75 crore as first installment for the Rural Eco Tourism Circuit project during the financial year 2016-17.
As far as Eco camp in Mandalgre, the inspection found that nothing has started, adding in Ampanggre village though the land was made available, there is no sign of any work.
The inspection was conducted in nine places and it was found that work was not taken up in most of the places.
The report said that as per the letter of the North Eastern Council, it is afraid that the project may be cancelled due to negligence on the part of the implementing agency. The inspection report suggested the State Government to take up the matter seriously and reconsider as to how to re-start the whole project at the earliest for the benefit of the people.
