SHILLONG: The police have informed that many customers of e-commerce sites are getting phone calls from fraudsters who claim to be agents from the sites.
Fraudsters are taking advantage of e-commerce sites offering huge discounts and make calls to customers claiming that they have won lottery or gifts amounting to lakhs of rupees. They are asked to deposit a certain amount of money in order to claim the gifts. Police have asked the public to remain vigilant and not fall prey to such false messages, calls or offers.
