SHILLONG: The husband of the 29-year-old teacher whose body with her throat slit was found in Jowai on Friday is the prime suspect in the case.
West Jaintia Hills SP Lakador Syiem said though Shwa-miki Law “appears to be the prime accused we are yet to question him” because he is admitted in a hospital with a minor slit on his neck.
The body of Daphibanker Phawa was found in a rented house where she stayed with her three children. The throat was slit with a sharp weapon, police had said.
However, the Meghalaya police website says unidentified miscreants murdered Phawa around 12.30 am on October 12 and tried to murder Law by slitting his throat too. Law has sustained grievous injuries and is admitted in Mission Hospital, Jowai. The body has been sent to CH Ialong for postmortem.
Meanwhile, in East Jaintia Hills, a complaint was lodged that on September 30, Treyo Phawa of Lum RC Kyndong, Tuber (West Jaintia Hills) attempted to slit the throat of his wife.
