TURA: A colourful cultural show comprising of songs and dances by students marked the Silver Jubilee celebration of the Loyola Secondary School at Dawagre near Williamnagar in East Garo Hills on Saturday last week.
The grand celebration of 25 years of the school’s existence was graced by Local MLA Marcuise R Marak as the Chief Guest and President of North East Jesuit Educational Society and Regional Superior, Fr Melvil Pereria as the Guest of Honor.
Speaking to the gathering on the occasion, the Chief Guest appreciated the service imparted by the school to the local children as well as for creating an atmosphere to exhibit the multi talents of the students.
Remarking on the memorandum submitted through him by the school to Chief Miister Conrad Sangma, the local MLA assured the gathering that he would recommend to the Chief Minister to fulfill all the demands that were made.
Guest of Honor, Fr Melvil Pereria who also spoke on the occasion was all praise for the students for displaying confidence and courage during the programme.
The Bishop Emeritus of Tura diocese, Rt Rev George Mamallassery expressed appreciation to the Regional Superior and to the Jesuits for having taken up the Mission in East Garo Hills.
The occasion was attended by all the former Rectors, Principals, Headmistresses and the Parish Priests, some of whom included Fr Charles D’Souza, Fr Philip Abraham, Fr Cyprian Lobo, Fr Hector, Fr Gregory, Fr Boniface and others.
