JOWAI: The football coach who was accused of raping a 16-year-old girl is still absconding but will face POCSO charges once he is arrested.
The SP of West Jaintia Hills said that Ebormi Sutnga served as a temporary football coach in a girls’ school but the school authorities are reluctant to admit the fact and that the victim in question is a student of the school.
West Jaintia Hills police also said that they suspect that Sutnga and the girl had an affair and that their physical intimacy was consensual.
“However, the girl is a minor and hence it no more remains consensual,” they added. Sutnga went missing immediately after an FIR was lodged by the parents of the girl after she disappeared from home.
It was a missing report. But after the girl came back she was sent for medical examination and reports showed she had sexual intercourse.
The report becomes a rape case under the POCSO Act.
