State Open Basketball championship held in city

SHILLONG: State Open Basketball Championship 2018, conducted by Iaineh Sports Club in collaboration with Meghalaya basketball Association held from October 13-20, 2018 at JN stadium, Polo. Total number of Men’s Teams participated was 17 and Women’s Teams was 6. The final matches were played on Oct 20. In the Women’s final- Iaineh SC girls defeated Nongrim Hills SC girls in a very close match by 61-59. In the men’s final- Jaiaw Pdeng SC defeated Iaineh SC by 61-48. Most promising Player in women was awarded to Miss. Banroi Kharsyntiew (Shillong United) and Balajied Langrin (Tyllilang Academy) in Men. Highest Scorer in Men- Patrick Kharshandi (Iaineh SC) with a total of 80 points and in Women- Elgiva Rumnong (Iaineh Sc) with a total of 78 points. Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Championship was awarded to Iairy S.M. Sangma (Iaineh SC) in women and Donbok Thongni (Tyllilang Academy) in men.
