SHILLONG: The youth wing of the Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has demanded removal of a consultant of the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) alleging irregularity in his appointment.
In a memorandum to Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management Kyrmen Shylla, KHNAM said Surojit Bordoloi should be removed as consultant because the state already has qualified and experienced locals.
The youth wing of the regional political party maintained that proper advertisement should be floated in all local newspapers to ensure youths are aware of the vacancies.
(An RTI filed by the regional party revealed that one application, that of Bordoloi, was received against the advertisement issued on September 17, 2013.Youth wing president Thomas Passah said the appointment of Bordoloi violates the provision of State Reservation Policy that states, “Where the number of vacancies is nine or less, the same shall be treated as reserved vacancies in favour of the protected communities as specified in the said resolution and office memoranda.”
Further, the RTI revealed that SDMA does not have any permanent or contractual employees and the list of posts sanctioned for it is nil.
In their meeting with the minister, the KHNAM members were told the officers of the department will be called to discuss the findings.
