SHILLONG: A delegation, including traditional head and KSU members, from Sohiong has sought Health Minister AL Hek’s intervention in developing infrastructure at the primary health centre there.
President of KSU Sohiong circle WL Mawlong told reporters after meeting minister on Tuesday that manpower at the PHC is not enough to cater to the rising number of patients.
There are only three doctors and Mawlong said the delegation had urged Hek to fill the vacancies at the PHC.
The delegation comprised the Sordar Shnong of Weilyngkut and the president of women’s organisation of Weilyngkut, beside the KSU activists.
The team apprised Hek of Weilyngkut PHC, which is non-functional since 2007 when the building was completed. “The minister assured that in the first week of December, the Weilyngkut PHC will be made functional,” Mawlong said.
