Mega Lok Adalat settles 164 cases

SHILLONG: Under the leadership of the Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya, who is also the Patron-In-Chief of the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority (MSLSA) and with the able guidance and support of the Justice S.R.Sen, Executive Chairman, MSLSA, a Mega Lok Adalat was held in the State of Meghalaya on  Saturday

Apart from settling about 164 cases for a total amount of  Rupees 64, 14,872.  The most significant feature of this particular Mega Lok Adalat was the settlement of one of the many  cases under the Motor Vehicle Act for which the claimants in a case of death of their son in a vehicular accident, was awarded Rupees six lakh and the cheque for the same was handed over by the officials of the New India Assurance Co. Ltd to the father and mother/claimants of the deceased on the very day of the Mega Lok Adalat
