SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said on Sunday development of entrepreneurship is indispensable for the progress of the North East and the nation as a whole.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting at Youth Leaders Connect, Sangma said entrepreneurship fellowship, which was started by YLC last year, will be continued and it is looking for state governments to support it.
On the proposed incubation centres, the chief minister said the centres could be funded by the Government of India and state governments can partner to create an environment for entrepreneurs to come in.
The meeting also pitched for promotion of local products and YLC will write to concerned officials and ministries on using these products.
“We have more than 120 entrepreneurs from the entire North East. We have discussed and shared ideas and also planned to move forward,” Sangma said and added that entrepreneurship has been the major area of focus.
The programme is intended to connect leaders from different fields — political, sports, music and entrepreneurship.
