Fraudsters on prowl in Shillong

SHILLONG: Despite campaigns by the police department, reports of people falling prey to fraudulent calls still continue.

Ram Narain Rai (38) lodged a complaint that on October 26, he received a call from one lady who identified herself as Nitya Sharma of Samsung Mobile company offering him a Samsung J7 mobile set for Rs. 4,000.

Later, he received a call that the mobile has reached to his nearest Post Office and when he collected the parcel, he found that it contained a purse and a belt.

In another separate incident, Jugamaya Gogoi lodged a complaint on October 25 after Rs 50,000/- has been debited from her SBI account following an anonymous call who asked about her ATM card details and OTP.
