NONGSTOIN: Local MLA Macmillan Byrsat has assured residents of Lailyngdoh that the 10-km road from Nongstoin to Kynroh, which leads to Asia’s second largest river island Nongkhnum, will be repaired.
Last week, Byrsat sent a letter to PWD Minister Prestone Tynsong appri-sing him of the immediate need to repair the road.
The PWD minister has directed the executive engineer to send the estimates as soon as possible, the MLA informed. Byrsat has also requested the villagers of Lailyngdoh area to be patient till the government approves the proposal.
The road is completely broken and locals are facing difficulty because commercial vehicles and ambulance cannot travel.
Byrsat, while addressing reporters here on Saturday, said he has seen the poor condition of the road, which falls under the two-laning project from Nongstoin to Ranikor, and received complaints from locals.
The MLA said the project was delayed so he has decided not to wait any longer as “I feel the pain of the people”.
