Release arrears of Jowai Municipal Board staff: HC

SHILLONG: High Court of Meghalaya has asked the state government to release pending arrears and salaries to the employees of Jowai Municipal Board.
The single bench of the High Court headed by SR Sen during the hearing on Tuesday said the employees were not getting their arrears as well as regular salaries from January 1, 2007 upto December 31,2012.
Arrears as per the recommendation of the 4th Pay Scale Commission and pending salaries from June upto September 2018 and the calculation given in the affidavit shows that the pending arrears is around Rs. 97,71,640.00 and pending salaries is around Rs. 39,02,438.The total amount comes to Rs 1,36,74,078.
The court said the amount is not big for the government and the pending arrears and salaries should be released within three months.
