GUWAHATI: “The beneficiaries of PMAY-G will be able to inform about their problems directly to the authority through a toll-free helpline service and the same will be addressed within two working days.”—said Naba Kr Doley, Assam’s  Panchayat and Rural Development (P & RD) minister in the inauguration function of toll Free Helpline Service for PMAY-G beneficiaries held at the office of the Commissioner of P & RD  here on Saturday.

The toll free Helpline number launched on Saaturday  is 1800-123-235600. The beneficiaries may also SMS and WhatsApp their problems to 91278-71201.

The minister also said measures were being taken to solve the problems found during the night stay at newly constructed PMAY-G houses by the officials of P & RD and public representatives on August 11, 2018.  The night-stay by officials of the department  was initiated to get first hand experience of living condition in PMAY-G houses.

Regarding the problem of dearth of masons for building  PMAY-G houses in the state, the department has taken initiatives to impart mason training in mission mode. The minister said that the helpline number was launched as a part of steps taken to accelerate the construction of PMAY-G houses so that the beneficiaries could inform about their problems immediately.

He also urged that the beneficiaries should come forward to avail this facility to resolve their problems and to get their houses constructed within stipulated time and give opportunities to other eligible beneficiaries in getting their house. He also asked the  newly-appointed appointed employees for the call center to attend each and every call from the beneficiaries with utmost care and patience.

Dr J B Ekka, Principal Secretary, P & RD hoped that the toll-free helpline service would expedite the implementation of PMAY-G programme.

The contact numbers of all beneficiaries are in the database of P & RD and the status of construction of houses will also be assessed by the department from time to time.
