TURA: The Garo Students’ Union from Dadenggre has expressed disappointment over the transfer of a Junior Engineer (JE) working at the Block Development Office in Dadenggre.

“He is hardworking and efficient in his job and so far has no remark in his field of work. He is also very approachable and helpful to the public. He was delivering his service to the needy without any hesitation. The public under Dadenggre C&RD Block was very much contented with his selfless service. His transfer has come as a shock and disappointed the public,” leader of the union, Rupa M Marak said.

According to the transfer order, the official, Bandi Sangma is to be replaced by one, Paila Kharsong and the union feels that appointing a non Garo will create unnecessary problems to the public as they are unfamiliar to communicating in any other language.

“Even the majority of the VEC members are not educated. The public will have communication problem with the new official.  He may be efficient and hardworking but he’ll be one step behind Bandi Sangma in the field of communicating with the public. Communication is must for carrying work efficiently for the general interests of the public,” Marak said.

The union requested the government to reconsider and revoke the transfer order keeping in view the greater interest of the people of the region adding it might be compelled to take democratic steps if the sentiments of the people were ignored.
