Ex-green activist to contest Council polls

JOWAI: Former environmentalist Comely Lyngdoh Phawa has decided to contest the upcoming district council election from Muthlong Sohkymphor constituency in West Jaintia Hills.
Lyngdoh Phawa, a resident of Sohkymphor village, said a general meeting of the village Dorbar Shnong has unanimously decided to support him in the council polls.
“I have not decided any party yet but I will contest the election from any party or as an independent candidate. I am contesting for the rights and interest of the people of my constituency and the people of Jaintia Hills as a whole,” he said.
Lyngdoh Phawa will contest against Skhemhok Suchiang, the sitting MDC.
