17 injured in road mishap in GH

TURA: As many as 17 passengers sustained injuries after the Mahindra mini truck that was packed with villagers returning from the 100 Drums Wangala Festival at Asanang, lost control and went off the road at Samingre village of Jengjal on Saturday evening.
The ill-fated vehicle ML07 B 6958 was returning with villagers who had come to witness the closing ceremony of the Wangala celebrations at Asanang when the driver lost control.
The accident led to 12 passengers being admitted at the Tura civil hospital for treatment and observation, while several others were released after primary medical care, informed West Garo Hills police.
Among the injured were three young girls and almost all the others happened to be teenagers.
Hospital authorities have informed the district administration that all 12 admitted patients are stable and out of danger.
Most of the victims hailed from the Anogre and Gabil region.
Police personnel were busy controlling traffic in and around the Wangala celebrations where a record number of visitors have been flocking to the venue at Asanang to take part in the three day event. There was also check against drunk driving.
