SHILLONG: The Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP), which managed to win only two seats in the last Assembly polls, is keen to contest 15 seats in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council elections scheduled to be held next year.
Informing this here on Monday, HSPDP president, KP Pangniang said the party is currently focusing on the KHADC elections.
Reacting to a query, he said the party has started the process of identification of probable candidates even as it has started the preparatory work for the Council elections.
When asked about its ties with the UDP, he said that party’s alliance with the UDP remains intact and would continue.
UDP and HSPDP had forged an alliance before the Assembly elections this year and both parties together managed to win only 8 seats out of the 60 seats in the state. Some independent MLAs later joined UDP.
