First Khasi judge of HC to be sworn in today

SHILLONG: Senior Advocate Hamarsan Sing Thangkhiew, who has been appointed as the new judge of the High Court of Meghalaya, will be sworn in on Monday.
Thangkhiew, who is set to be the first Khasi judge after the formation of the High Court of Meghalaya in March 2013, will be sworn in by the High Court Chief Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir at the court.
Thangkhiew completed his schooling from St Edmund’s, graduated from St Edmund’s College with honours in Economics (1987) and completed his LLB from Delhi University in 1990.
He practised mainly civil and constitutional law.
He was designated as Senior Advocate by the Gauhati High Court in 2010.
