SHILLONG: Government offices and hospitals may soon be persons with disabilities-friendly with the Social Welfare Department identifying around 21 buildings to construct ramps.
“We are starting the first phase in which the department has identified more or less 21 buildings where the government will construct ramps for disabled people,” said Social Welfare Minister Kyrmen Shylla.
He added that the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has given the state government three years’ time for three phases.
“Different structures will be built for them in government offices and hospitals. There will be second and third phases. A time will come when we will be able to provide their needs,” Shylla said.
