SBI pensioners annual general meeting held in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The 23rd annual general meeting of the State Bank of India Pensioners Association (SBIPA), North Eastern Circle, and SBI Annual Pensioners Meet were held jointly at the SBI Local Head Office in Guwahati on Saturday. The formal inauguration of the event was done through lighting of the traditional lamp by Sunil Kumar Tandon, Chief General Manager, SBI NE Circle and other dignitaries present on the occasion.
More than 400 pensioners of SBI from seven states of the North East participated in the meet.
The theme of the event was ‘gratitude’ and pensioners were given opportunity to express their gratefulness to colleagues and others who went out of the way to help them while they were in service. Speaking at the programme, Bhupen Kalita, General Secretary, SBIPA informed that there were 2.5 lakh pensioners of the State Bank across the country and their number in the North East is 5,000 as of now. He also gave a brief report about the many community service projects taken up by SBIPA in different parts of the region.
41 SBIPA members who attained the age of 75 were felicitated with gifts and mementos. Speaking on behalf of them, JP Saikia, former Chief General Manager, SBI NE Circle exhorted all pensioners to maintain a busy but disciplined schedule and contribute their mite for the progress and welfare of the society.
CGM Sunil Kumar Tandon compared the service life in bank to a relay race. He thanked the pensioners for giving the bank a solid and sturdy foundation in the North East and for passing the baton to the present set of bankers who are carrying on with the race to the best of their capacity. He informed that SBI is holding a green marathonacross the country on December 16 to promote awareness about environment.
