Winter Tourism fest in North Garo Hills, Browny to hit the stage

TURA: A colourful two day tourism event is being organised at upcoming tourism site in Rongma Gitil village of North Garo Hills from Nov 30th to Dec 1st.

The tourism fest is being organized by the Rongma Gitil Tourism Committee (RGTC) in collaboration with the NGH district administration and the Kharkutta C&RD Block.

Among the highlights of the event will be a ‘Riprap’ night with legendary Garo singer Browny mesmerising the crowds on December 1st evening. Record number of spectators and ,music lovers from the length and breadth of Garo Hills  are expected to converge on the musical night.

Tourism minister, Metbah Lyngdoh is expected to be part of the celebrations on Nov 30 while Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma is expected to be present on Dec 1. Other dignitaries who will be part of the program includes deputy speaker, Timothy D Shira, NPP MLAs Ponseng Marak and local MLA Rupert Momin along with GHADC CEM, Dipul Marak and deputy CEM, DK Sangma.

“There will be many competitions over the two days of the tourism event including a fishing competition, volleyball, flute, food (local Garo dishes) as well as a host of indigenous games. All the competitions will have prize money for the winners,” stated one of the organizers of the event.

“We want to encourage tourism in Garo Hills through the 2 day program as well as the site. Rongma Gitil has immense potential to become one of the biggest crowd pullers in the coming years due to the natural beauty it presents,” mention the organisers of the tourism fest.
