UDP youth wing in Mawkyrwat
MAWKYRWAT: As part of the preparation for the upcoming council polls in 2019 , the United Democratic Party (UDP) Mawkyrwat Circle will hold a general meeting at Dorbar Hall, Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills District at 1 pm on December 1. The party Mawkyrwat Circle president and MDC candidate, Anvil Lyngdoh informed that the objective of the meeting is to form a youth wing to strengthen the party in the Constituency. After electing the office bearers of the wing, there will be a formal meeting confirmation of the unit by Lyngdoh in the presence of South West Khasi Hills District president, G.G Bung Snaitang among others.

Support for Garoland rally
TURA: The A’chik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM), a new body formed by former GNLA Chairman, Champion R Sangma has pledged full support to the rally on separate Garoland State being staged by the Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC) in Shillong on December 5. “We have decided to support them with our heart and soul until the demand for separate Garoland State is assured by the Government of India. We know that to demand for the same is our constitutional right,” the pressure group said. Stating that Garos are entitled to their own state under the States Reorganization Act of 1956.

Waste management workshop
TURA: In its initiative to make the district garbage free, a two-day workshop on Solid and Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) was held at DRDA Conference Hall, Tura recently. In view of this, the garbage expert and pioneer in Solid and Liquid Resource Management, Garbage to Gold) C Srinivasan was on a two-day visit to the district to impart on SLRM for block and village level functionaries at Tura.

Bankers’ meeting held in Ampati
Ampati: South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ramkumar S convened a meeting with the bankers and representatives of various financial institutions from across the district at Circuit House, Ampati on Wednesday. The meeting is a quarterly review of the status of implementation of various flagship programmes through the banks by the District Consultative Committee (DCC) of which the Deputy Commissioner is the Chairman. It discussed the performance of the banks with regard to credit-deposit ratio, performance under ACP and other flagship programmes of the government including PMJDY, PMSBY and PMJJBY, besides other bank matters.

Public hearing on NH-51
TURA: The Officer on Special Duty, Meghalaya Institute of Governance, Shillong has informed that public hearing on Social Impact Assessment Study for acquisition of land at West Garo Hills District for widening to two-lane with geometric improvement of NH-51 from Tura to Dalu. It may be mentioned that the public hearing was held ain Rongram on November 27, in Gambegre on November 28 and 29, in Dalu C & RD Block on November 30, in Khera Nokat MFC and on December 3 at Machangpani Government L P School and Maguapara Primary School.Therefore, all land owners, stakeholders and interested persons are invited to attend the hearing.

Ricky Shullai inaugurates school
Shillong: MDC Ricky Shullai inaugurated the RCC classroom of Margareth Barr Secondary School, Lawsohtun Block-6 on Wednesday. It was sanctioned by KHADC under SPA for Rs 5,00,000 lakh. It was planned and initiated by the MDC.
