GUWAHATI: In the joint operation conducted by the Army, Assam Rifles and Assam Police resulted in arrest of nine militants belonging to the NDFB(S) on Sunday night while they were returning from their training camps in Myanmar and had just entered Assam. The security forces also recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from their possession, a Defence source here claimed.
The source informed that the security forces were working on intelligence inputs for the last two months regarding possible infiltration of NDFB(S) cadres from their training camps at Myanmar towards own side for attempting and carrying out subversive activities.
An joint operation was launched near Jagun in Tinsukia district along Assam-Arunachal Pradesh boundary. The complete group was busted while infiltrating into India from their training camp in Myanmar. An Ambush was established on their infiltration route.
The operation also resulted in recovery of nine weapon including AK -47 and AK- 56 assaukt rifles, pistols and assorted ammunitions. The cadres along with seized items were being handed over to Assam Police. The joint operation paid rich dividends because of high level of coordination and cooperation between different security forces.
