GUWAHATI: Militant outfit, United Liberation Front of Asom, Independent (ULFA-I) has denied its involvement in the explosion inside the Kamakhya-Dekargaon Intercity Express near Harisinga railway station in Udalguri district on Saturday evening.

According to NF Railway sources, three passengers of a general second class coach were injured in the blast that occurred inside the train at a place near Harisinga railway station under Rangia division, which is about 50 km from Rangiya and 90 km from Guwahati on the north bank of the Brahmaputra.

A statement issued to the media on Sunday by Rumel Asom, member of the militant outfit’s publicity wing, also condemned the incident and prayed for the recovery and wellbeing of those injured in the blast.

The outfit alleged that parties such as “BJP and RSS were trying to create communal tension and religious polarisation.

“We have information that attacks such as this and the one at Dhola, has been carried out under the patronage of BJP and RSS for political gain. The Assam government and its home department have hatched a conspiracy under the patronage of parties like BJP and RSS,” the outfit alleged in the statement.

The outfit further urged the people of the state to be on their guard against such communal forces. “We apprehend that there could be more attacks such as these in the coming days in Assam and therefore urge the people of Assam to be wary of such communal forces,” it said.
