NONGPOH: Residents of Lum Roman and Umsohlang villages under Umsning constituency in Ri Bhoi district witnessed fulfillment of one of their long-pending demands on Wednesday when local legislator, Jason Sawkmie Mawlong inaugurated a newly constructed concrete footpath and dedicated it to the villagers.
“We had been demanding construction of a concrete footpath for long but none of the previous legislators paid attention. The villagers used to suffer a lot while crossing this particular road, especially during rainy seasons”, said one of the village leaders of Lum Roman, while expressing gratitude to the MLA for the scheme.
The concrete footpath was constructed under the Special Rural Works Programme (SRWP) Scheme.
