MAWKYRWAT: The UDP in South West Khasi Hills “has enough strength” to face rivals in the district council election, said a senior leader of the party.
The president of the UDP Mawkyrwat circle and candidate for the upcoming council polls, Anvil Lyngdoh, said most of the new entrants have good reputation and goodwill in the society and will absorb new members at the circle level.
“We have overhauled the party machinery at the circle level and the next course of action will follow suit. We have also received warm appreciation from the public… The number of supporters has increased and till the time of the election, we will be at the frontline,” Lyngdoh said during a recent meeting of the executive committee here.
The party also elected office bearers for the circle. KD Wanniang is the new general secretary and Dmanly L Marshillong the assistant secretary.
