Governor inaugurates photo exhibition in city

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Governor Tathagata Roy inaugurated a 5-day Integrated Photo Exhibition organised by the Bureau of Outreach and Communication (BOC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at the Indoor Stadium, JNS Complex in the city on Monday.
The integrated exhibition on Saaf Niyat Sahi Vikas and rare photographs of Mahatma Gandhi will be followed by Special Outreach Programmes on Flagship Schemes of the Government on December 19 and 20. The BOC has been created by merging the three offices of Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP), Directorate of Advertising & Visual Publicity (DAVP) and Song & Drama Division (S&DD).
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the Governor said that such creative awareness programmes are beneficial to the people of Meghalaya in general.
Prizes were also given out to participants of the photography and painting competitions held by the BOC.
The governor also lauded the efforts of the government in strengthening the information machinery in the entire North-East through its Act East policy and stated that the move will increase awareness including the outreach of the government.
A special pavilion consisting of rare photographs of Mahatma Gandhi have also been put on display.
