SHILLONG: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) faction led by Adelbert Nongrum has decided to reorganise its youth wing so as to have a fine balance of members from both urban and rural areas of Khasi and Jaintia Hills.
The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by the KHNAM faction led by Nongrum on Tuesday.
In a statement issued here, the general secretary of KHNAM, THS Bonney, said till the election of a new president of the youth wing is held, Glenbert Khongwir, who is presently vice-presidentwill be the convener of the youth wing.
“For the present, all concerned may kindly note that KHNAM has no youth wing president. The Executive Committee of KHNAM which is legally and constitutionally recognised by the Election Commission of India do not recognise or acknowledge the existence of any other Youth Wing of KHNAM except the one with Glenbert Khongwir as its Convenor,” the statement said.
