SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Upper Primary School Teachers Association (MUPSTA) expressed its gratitude to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma for release of the pending arrears from September-December 2016 before Christmas.
Organising cum publicity secretary of MUPSTA E G War said the association had a meeting with the chief minister on July 27 and October 30 last. The association has requested all the heads of the schools to approach the SDSEO’s office to get clarification if they have not yet received the said arrear.
MUPSTA is expecting that the government through the office of the chief minister will call the association for discussion regarding the pending demands for upgrading all the (improved and ad hoc) upper primary schools to a deficit pattern/system in the whole state.
At the same time, it is hopeful that the meeting with the government will take place before the spring budget session 2019.
MUPSTA had been fighting for the enhancement of teachers’ salary since the year 1994. The association members had even conducted hunger strike in 2002.
