SHILLONG: The Peoples’ Democratic Front (PDF) welcomed sitting Mylliem MDC Teilinia Thangkhiew who defected from Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) on Saturday at Madan Iing Syiem, Mylliem.
Thangkhiew is currently the Deputy Chief Executive Member (CEM) and is likely to be the party candidate for PDF from Mylliem.
She heaped praises on the sitting PDF MLA Hamlet Dohling for working hard for the development of Mylliem constituency.
She claimed that 80 per cent of the electorate is delighted since both the MLA and MDC is from the same party and expressed confidence to win the elections.
Similarly, Dohling said, “If there is no unity amongst the representatives, the public will suffer.”
He said the decision to allot the party ticket to her is not his individual decision, although there were many who sought the party ticket for the Council election from Mylliem.
“I have spoken to party functionaries and they were willing to give way to Teilinia to ensure the party’s victory in the election,” he added.
