Meghalaya Mahila Congress takes out march against Citizenship Bill

SHILLONG : The Meghalaya Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee president Joplin Shylla said indigenous population of Meghalaya and the North Eastern states will be overwhelmed by foreigners if Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) is implemented.
Meghalaya Mahila Congress committee took out a protest march in Shillong on Wednesday by walking around Khyndai Lad as the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills did not grant them permission to protest in front of BJP office in view of Section 144 CrPC being imposed.
Speaking to reporters, she said jobs in Meghalaya were saturated and people were struggling to get a livelihood and questioned the move of the BJP by granting citizenship to foreigners.
She added that they would continue to protest till the Bill was withdrawn.
