Accident
On Wednesday around 12:00pm, one motorcycle (ML-08C-7308) ridden by Treverson R Marak (47) collided with one Maruti Alto (ML-05H-2553) driven by Charan R Marak (40) at Taktaki in South West Garo Hills. The rider and pillion rider of the motorcycle sustained injuries and were taken to CH Ampati and CH Tura for treatment.
On January 15 around 7:00 pm, one motorcycle (ML-08B-9423) ridden by Dipankar Dutta (34) collided with one tempo (ML-08D-7838) at Latrigre in South West Garo Hills. The rider and two pillion riders sustained injuries and were taken to CH Ampati for treatment.
On January 15 around 10:30 pm, one dumper truck (ML-06-0772) driven by Charles Suting dashed against another truck (AS-01-DD-7463) at Umsning By-pass Road in Ri Bhoi. The drivers of both the vehicles sustained injuries.
Arson
Weskin Nongsiej of Divisional Soil & Water Conservation, Shillong (T) Division lodged a complaint stating that on January 13 around 1:40 pm, unknown miscreants burned down a plantation center at Sangmein, in Shillong Peak.
Drug bust
On January 14 around 8:45 pm, personnel of 143 Bn BSF recovered 100 bottles of Phensedyl syrup.
Theft
On Wednesday around 12:15 pm, residents of Nongrimmaw, Laitumkhrah, apprehended Eddieson Kharmuti (27) for attempting to steal a car battery. His accomplice managed to escape and Kharmuti was handed over to the police.
Krantar Shabong lodged a complaint stating that on January 13 night, unknown miscreants broke into a godown belonging to Aimoris Marbaniang at Mawlong village in West Khasi Hills and stole school bags, shoes, shawls and food items valued at Rs 45,000.
Hasina Begum of Shyamding in West Garo Hills lodged a complaint stating that on January 12, unknown miscreants broke into her house and stole gold ornaments, Rs 10,000 cash and a mobile phone.
Peimopha of Madanrting Block-F, Shillong lodged a complaint stating that on January 3, unknown miscreants stole one BMX bicycle from his residence.
Threat
Manent B Sangma of Dimakgre, West Garo Hills lodged a complaint stating that on January 12 around 1:00 am, unidentified men wearing masks broke into his house, tied him and his wife and demanded Rs 5 lakh. On his refusal to give in to their demands, the miscreants assaulted and threatened him with dire consequences. They also took his mobile phone and Rs 6,000 cash.
Ioanis Nianglang lodged a complaint stating that on January 8 around 11:30 pm, three masked miscreants armed with shot guns and one pistol broke into his house and demanded Rs 1 lakh.
