SHILLONG: After getting Rs 321.88 crore under the Central Road Fund (CRF), the state government has now received another record sanction of more than Rs 900 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
Informing this here on Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, who is also in charge of PWD, said the funds will be utilised for upgradation of the existing roads.
The state was getting fund under the PMGSY for connecting villages and now with this sanction, the government is also going to repair and upgrade the existing roads.
“By the next financial year or may be in two years, we will be able to complete all the projects,” he said while adding that the state will see the change in rural road condition.
Under the PMGSY, the state will cover around 1,000 km of roads in the city, besides upgrading bridges and roads in Shillong and other parts of the state.
Earlier, the state used to get around Rs 80-90 crore per year under CRF and under the sanctioned amount, around Rs 50 crore will be used for constructing roads and bridges in the city.
