SHILLONG: The newly formed central executive committee of the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) has reorganised its structure to motivate youths and continue “the struggle to achieve its ideology”.
The committee, which came into existence on January 2, had held an oath-taking ceremony at an undisclosed location at Krem Tirot.
“We hereby take the firm oath that we shall work selflessly for safeguarding the interests of our people,” said the HNLC general secretary cum publicity secretary, Sainkupar Nongtraw.
Bobby Marwein is the new chairman cum commander in chief and Khrawbok Jyrwa the vice chairman.
HNLC said it was not against any race or religion but is prompted to take up arms to protect the local people from the brutal mindset of mainland India.
Nongtraw appealed to various Hynñiewtrep pressure groups to stand united and not be divided based on political motivations.
He added that pressure groups such as KSU, FKJGP, RBYF, HNYF, HANM, HYC, JSU, JYF etc are the pillars of the Hynñiewtrep and urged them to join hands and keep their differences behind for the interests of the Hynñiewtrep people.
“Simply singing Ri Khasi Ri Khasi,  nga ieid iapha without unity has no meaning, whereas our Jaitbynriew is on the verge of sinking. It is up to our people to decide whether we need to see a change or we get into chains. It is time we come together under one voice to fight for the National existence of our Hynñiewtrep,” Nongtraw said.
