TURA: GHADC MDC from Kharkutta, Smith Momin has sought a magisterial inquiry into the long delay in the construction of the local PMGSY road in North Garo Hills which was due to be completed by 2016.

The project in question is the blacktopping of the TO4 (Majipara) to Tebrongpara PMGSY Road under Kharkutta C&RD Block which was sanctioned in the year 2014.

In his complaint to the North Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Momin alleged negligence by the department concerned and the Contractor in charge of the project and sought strong action against both for delaying its completion.

“The project was scheduled to be completed within two years from the date of sanction. This is gross slackness on the part of the PWD Department and the contractor concerned and action should be taken against both,” Momin said.

Momin while pointing out that the project is meant for the people and not for the benefit of vested interests sought the cancellation of the concerned contractor’s license for violating the norms of the PWD Department.

Momin made an appeal to the district deputy commissioner to urgently look into the matter and has also requested that the inquiry is completed within two weeks.
