SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Assembly Committee on Women Empowerment will take up the alleged molestation of a 20-year-old girl by JHADC CEM, MB Rymbai, and also ask the NPP to which he belongs, to take action against him.
The girl, hailing from East Jaintia Hills, has lodged a complaint against Rymbai alleging he had molested her in a hotel room in New Delhi in November last year. Rymbai had allegedly taken her to Delhi and molested her in a hotel room.
Chairperson of Meghalaya Assembly Committee on Women Empowerment and Congress leader, Ampareen Lyngdoh, said the committee would take up the matter.
Lyngdoh said it was very unfortunate that a leader elected by the public in good faith, instead of helping those who come looking for help, abuse them.
She said that as a legislator she condemns such an act by a fellow politician. She further said she would write to the NPP chief to take action against the accused.
Meanwhile, CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said that in the process of investigation facts have to be determined and justice delivered.
She also appealed to youngsters not to go to politicians asking for jobs, but rather follow the procedures to apply for one.
