Appeal to reschedule load shedding

SHILLONG/Tura: Urban Affairs Minister Hamletson Dohling has appealed for rescheduling of load-shedding in his constituency, Mylliem, for the upcoming board and university examinations. In a letter to the chairman and managing director of MeECL, Lumjingshai, Dohling said the timing for load-shedding should be changed from 11 pm-12 midnight to 1am-2am.

In view of various crimes taking place in Garo Hills during the night, Raksamgre MLA and Co-Chairman of the Meghalaya State Planning Board, Benedic R Marak has urged Power Minister, James K Sangma to direct the MeECL to reschedule load shedding hours for daytime all over Garo Hills. “It has come to my notice that there has been a rise in various crimes all over Garo Hills during load shedding hours at night which is causing fear among the citizens. I would like to request that load shedding is done during the day,” Marak said in his letter.
The request for the change in load shedding hours comes following a spate of crimes recently especially against Catholic Parishes and institutions in Garo Hills.
